The CO said our congregations(@22) were suffering from horrible meeting attendance because we had the ocean in front of us and the mountains behind us.
I took it to heart and made sure I was at the beach or hiking every weekend after that.
i was commenting on another thread about how local kh attendance is down.
memorial attendance was also way down and the circuit assembly had hundreds less people than what is typical.
my jw family has even mentioned it.

good news or bad news first?
i'll do bad.. my grandmother is becoming more and more strict as i turn closer to 18, which is in 3 months.
i ask for the most simplest thing and it's like "let me think about it" i don't wanna seem as a complainer to you guys but i just want to be normal.
Go to the college now and post on the community boards you are looking for help, roommates etc. you will be surprised at the outreach you find. It will be up to you to find the best fit. Also, you will likely qualify for financial assistance if you need it for living arrangements. You won’t starve either. Aside from the ramen staple diet you will find food pantries that will help you and school programs where you can collect the food you need each week. You can do this.
If you go the sister route, do everything you can to help her. She has her hands full. Clean the house, do the laundry, walk to the store, watch the kids so she can grab a nap, bring steaks home on a blue moon. It could work and be really beneficial for both of you.
You are at the cusp of a totally new life. It can be daunting but it can also be euphoric. Weigh your options and try to do what is best for your progress.
ok so this is a topic i've pondered and go back and forth on.. i can easily see a point where lawsuits cause massive deficits in the organization.
honestly i feel like we are seeing the tip of the iceberg in regards to lawsuits on child abuse.
to me it looks like the property sell offs are to be able to get ready for this.
Even among active JWs, they will refer to other active JWs as “not real JWs” if they don’t agree with their choices or lifestyle.
I would be curious to see actual membership based on donations. I’ve long suspected that about 25-30% of active JWs actually drop any money in the box.
Everyone else is riding coattails thinking it’s plenty to get to the other side of Armageddon. Sort of believers if you will.
Membership numbers mean nothing. Memorial attendance means nothing.
Donations coming in and expenditures is everything.
Thats what we will all watch play out.

It is withering away. It’s a shadow of what it was. It was insignificant to most humans before, it isn’t worth a thought to them now. We only care because it brings complete validation to our escape and gives us hope our loved ones still trapped will be set free. But it will linger. The die hards will die hard and their offspring will offer a 30% chance of reinforcement. Probably less as decades roll on. Armeggedon is never coming and the future of Watchtower will resemble the future of every pseudo religion just like it. Take comfort in personal triumphs and ones close to you.
My mom used to write a $1000 donation each month. She won’t anymore because I showed her how that money is used to protect pedophiles. No she won’t leave, but they only care about $, and they aren’t getting hers anymore. I bet you it’s a very common story.

Open a bank account with a trusted adult as co signer(required as you are a minor) or wait three months to open an account that is solely yours. Then have your paycheck direct deposited to your account by your employer.
When your tution assistance comes in this will be imperative for you to set up as you do not want anyone else having access to your money.
It sounds as though your Gmother has already written you off as “leaving Jehovah” so what is the harm to you immediately if you choose for yourself to go the football game and hang out with friends? Go on a date? What is your Gmother holding over you? Are you afraid of being kicked out? That would be illegal if she is your guardian. Are you planning on moving out? You should plan for it as soon as possible.
Not really clear on the dynamics of exactly what you are dealing with but one thing is certain, you won’t get back the last few months of your high school story to re do. So make it exactly like you want now and deal with the repercussions. You’ll thank yourself later.
I appreciate what Joe is getting at about some of the pitfalls of freedom, but I push back that it is oh so similar to the fear tactics employed by JW cult members.
Truth is, people are actually wonderful and not everyone will lead you to sex, drugs and rock n roll. But if they do and you like it? Who is to judge you for it?
Get control of your life. It is time to grow up. Stay in control by making good decisions.
i’m sorry that i talk about dating a lot, i know it is probably very annoying, but you don’t have to read it.
but did anyone else have the most difficult time dating as a young jw?
me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year in half, we are in our early 20’s, and we are still not allowed to hold hands, cuddle or kiss.
No JWs in their early twenties follow all the stupid rules set by parents or elders or their busybody wives when they are in lust with eachother. Where there is a will there is a way. There are those who get caught, and there are those that don’t.
You should fuck at a minimum 5 men before you even think of marriage. It is just that important. You can be blinded by affections only to find out your life is one giant sexual frustration when you marry the guy that you didn’t test out or you marry a guy with no other experiences to measure him with.
Just do it. Go out of town on some false pretense (cover your ass) and be the adults you are. Then do it again as many times as you want.
Then when it’s out of your system, you won’t feel forced to marry just to get laid.
Or do it again with someone new.
Don’t become some guys masturbatory tool on your wedding night.
whether you like him or not.... it doesn’t matter.
do you think he will be impeached?
?.
I like Alan Dershowitz. He brings a perspective to the table that fascillitates deeper understanding of how difficult the practice of law actually is. Any attorney will tell you they can argue both sides of any issue successfully. Alan loves to take the unpopular stance among his peers, but he is always well researched and uses impeccable reasoning. He also doesn’t shy away from the fact that his views, while completely sound in his mind, can be challenged using the exact same statutes he bases his opinions on.
”A candidate is free to contribute to his or her own campaign. It also is not criminal for a candidate to pay hush money to women whose disclosures might endanger his campaign. So if candidate Trump paid hush money to his two accusers, there would be no violation of any campaign or other laws. To be sure, if he did so for the purpose of helping his campaign - as distinguished from helping his marriage - his campaign would have to disclose any such contribution, and failure to do so might be a violation of a campaign law, but the payments themselves would be entirely lawful.”
“Anyone reading the collection of statutes, regulations and rules that govern elections would immediately conclude - even while sitting - that they do not satisfy this Jeffersonian criteria. Reasonable people can disagree about whether these open-ended laws apply to any of the acts and omissions alleged against Trump by Cohen.”
“An overzealous prosecutor could, of course, stretch the words of the accordion-like statute to target a political enemy, or read it more narrowly to favor a political friend.”

When the special counsel was set in place I wonder how many people thought that anything about Russia would be the least of Trump’s problem? The investigation had no boundaries. That’s what we are seeing. The rule of law is being exercised on anyone and everything Mueller finds. It’s not unprecedented either. It’s why we were burdened with stained blue dresses and oval fellatio.
There won’t be any impeachment. Trump is going to walk away in complete and utter frustration when the Mueller probe continues on and on and on and one after another of the President’s men fall until he is the only one left for Mueller to toy with.
Pence is going to bore us all to death.
